Carley Reed's comfortable life as an English teacher in San Francisco begins to get a little bumpy when a private investigator informs her that the grandmother she never knew left her a considerable inheritance, including her home in a small Mississippi town. After refusing to back down in a plagiarism case at her private school, Carley resigns and heads for Mississippi. Although she intends only to stay long enough to sell the house and collect the money she was bequeathed, Carley finds it difficult to leave her newfound relatives and the sleepy little town where her troubled mother grew up. Blackwell's latest novel (after the "Gresham Chronicles," "Tales of London," and "Victorian Serenade" series) has a little mystery, a little romance, and a likable protagonist and will appeal to readers of contemporary women's fiction with a dash of faith. Blackwell makes her home in Baton Rouge, LA.
