      Beverly Cleary was a little girl in a big house on a farm in Oregon. She revisits those days in the character of Emily, a precise and literal child whose powerful imagination fills the gaps in her quiet life. Christina Moore's careful enunciation, chagrined exclamations and controlled intensity convey the high drama Emily experiences daily. Moore manages breathless pauses without theatrics and does not raise the volume of the reading in spite of Emily's passionate feelings about everything.
