K-Gr 3-Short, simple first-person stories teach readers to think green. Child narrators describe how they reduce, reuse, and recycle, such as by conserving water or electricity, using the public library, or donating items. The formulaic entries offer a lot of the same. Each book has either three or four chapters and three to four sentences per page. All end with an invitation to join the cause. Though their illustration styles are different, Xin and Thomas employ expressive cartoon artwork. Red ovals differentiate thematic questions (e.g., "Why should people conserve water?") that are later addressed in an afterword. Teachers may find the appended lists of critical thinking questions useful. VERDICT Libraries need not purchase them all, but a few of these titles could round out early reader collections.
